According to the Chinese zodiac, 2018 was the year of the dog. The zodiac stated that 2018 would be a year for refreshment, rejuvenation and the acceleration of all things, with periods of exhaustion, joy, stress and happiness. While we don’t know much about the Chinese zodiac, we do love dogs and can confirm that 2018 was one of our busiest and most fulfilling years yet.
2018 was a year of growth for us, with the addition of many new clients. The Downtown Lexington Partnership, the Muhammad Ali Center, Certilytics, Biscuit Belly, Kentuckiana Regional Planning & Development Agency (KIPDA), Operation Parent, Best Home Furnishings and Presentation Academy were all welcomed into the Fieldtrip family. In addition, we hired 5 new employees in 2018, including a Creative Director, Director of Transformation, Media Buyer, Digital Media Specialist and Designer.
We had several major milestones inside our 4 walls. For the first time, we instituted a flexible (unlimited) time off policy and improved our maternity, paternity and adoption leave policies. We had 3 employees tie the knot in 2018 (not to each other), 2 baby announcements, 1 new grandson and a finalized adoption. 2018 also marked the 10 year anniversary of our first ever employee, Michelle Buchanan and a major birthday for our founder, Jane Pfeiffer.
We refreshed our office interiors and completed a major mural on the outside of our building. For the first time ever, we used our Fieldtrip marketing budget to develop an experiential marketing campaign, called the Do Something Machine. We merged traditional and digital media departments into 1 and even switched to a new project management software. We also were the proud recipients 8 ADDY awards and 9 AIGA awards.
2018 truly was a year of rejuvenation, refreshment, new initiatives and exhaustion and we’re thankful for every minute of it. Since 2019 is the year of the pig and 2020 is the year of the metal rat (?) we have no idea what to expect but we’re ready for anything that comes our way.
