When a new construction project took place right next to the Fieldtrip office, it created a magnificent opportunity for a large scale design project: a giant mural on the side of our building in direct line of sight of anyone traveling this popular corridor toward downtown Louisville.
THE CHALLENGE
Louisville has a lot of great street art, yet there was still room for something that would stand out and encompass all the quintessential things about Kentucky. This was a huge canvas in a prime location and an opportunity to create something really beautiful for the city to enjoy.
THE APPROACH
When researching the Louisville street art scene to see what types of murals had already been done, we noticed that typography was pretty popular, so we created something unique and focused on the things people love about our state. The entire creative team worked together, each designing different elements of the mural. The team secured funding from the city and neighboring businesses and the idea became a reality.
THE RESULTS
With the Kindred Healthcare building complete, the mural really takes the courtyard space to the next level. The community and visitors love the mural and find something new every time they see it. Creating this mural also raised our real estate value as this location is now a recognized landmark in downtown Louisville.
